The instrument is designed and made as per the national standard of Test Method for Ash Content of Petroleum Products.
It is suitable to determine ash content in the petroleum products as per ASTM D874.
It could not be used to determine ash content in the petroleum products containing ash-forming additives (including additives containing certain phosphorus compounds), lubricating oils containing lead, and used engine crankcase oils.
