A Standard Bitumen Viscometer is frequently used in laboratories, but it also has practical applications in factories and other industrial environments. A viscometer can be an important component in process and quality control. Companies can save money by placing a viscometer in a production line and making fluid viscosity measurements in real time.
Viscosity tests of asphalt binders measure their flow behavior at the elevated temperatures encountered in production and paving operations. Asphalt acts like a viscous (Newtonian) fluid at these temperatures, and viscosity tests are the best choices for characterization.
The asphalt standard viscosity tester is mainly based on the principle of flow type viscometer. After heating the asphalt sample to the specified temperature, pour it into a specific viscosity meter container, and record the time required for the asphalt to flow out of a certain volume (such as 50mL) through a standard sized flow hole at the specified temperature, in order to characterize the viscosity of the asphalt. The longer the time, the higher the viscosity and poorer the flowability of the asphalt.
