It creates a constant low temperature which can be preset for the specimen.
The working principle of the instrument is based on measuring the penetration depth of a standard needle vertically into an asphalt sample under specified temperature, load, and time conditions. Place the asphalt sample in a specific flat bottomed glass or metal dish, cool it to the required low temperature for the test, and then vertically insert the needle connecting rod with a standard needle into the asphalt sample under the specified weight (usually 100g) for a specified time (usually 5s). The instrument automatically measures and records the depth of the needle insertion, which is the penetration degree of the asphalt under this low temperature condition, measured in 0.1mm.
