Similar to the Saybolt universal viscometer, the Saybolt heavy oil viscometer determines viscosity by measuring the time it takes for a certain volume of liquid to flow through the standard orifice of the viscometer at a specified temperature. After the liquid sample is poured into the viscometer, the liquid flows out from the storage container of the viscometer through a specific sized small hole driven by gravity. The time required to measure the outflow of a certain standard volume (usually 60 milliliters) of liquid is related to the viscosity of the liquid. The higher the viscosity, the longer it takes for the liquid to flow out. The viscosity unit measured by the Saybolt Heavy Oil Viscometer is Saybolt Heavy Oil Second (SSU).
The saybolt viscometer is composed of water bath trough, water bath temperature controller and measured parameter display and calculation device (calibration coefficient, test duration and viscosity, etc), etc.
Adopts microprocessor controlling technology and with double channels detection function, the instrument can do parallel test for two samples, digitally indicate the measured parameters and calculate the average value of measured parameters automatically. The instrument can also convert the measured Saybolt viscosity to Engler viscosity or Kinematic viscosity, so you can get three types of viscosity data from a test. It is high efficient and reliable.
