Is asphalt penetration the bigger the better?
* Asphalt penetration is one of the main quality indicators of asphalt. It's expressed in the asphalt soft and hard degree and consistency, resistance to shear damage, reflecting the relative viscosity of asphalt under certain conditions of the index.
* At the specified temperature and time, add a standard needle of a certain mass to the depth of the asphalt test vertically, which is recorded as 0.1mm. The standard test conditions are generally a temperature of 25°C, a load of 100g, and a penetration time of 5s. The larger the penetration value, the softer the asphalt and the lower the viscosity
* Needle penetration is not the greater the better, the best for their local conditions. But the higher the softening point, the better. Ductility is also the greater the better.

Influencing Factors of Asphalt Penetration
* The test environment has a direct impact on the test results of asphalt penetration.
* The test results of penetration are summarized in units of 1/10mm, so the routine test of asphalt penetration requires high precision.
* Factors such as temperature, weight, time and distance all have a direct impact on the test results of the asphalt penetration. Ingress value will be high.
* Use a water bath for cooling. The longer the constant temperature of the water bath is, the more fully the sample is cooled, and the lower the test result of asphalt penetration will be.
* If air bubbles enter the asphalt sample due to improper operation, the deviation of the test result of the penetration will be greater.
Precautions of of Asphalt Penetration
* Before each test, check and adjust the water temperature in the heat preservation dish. After the test, remove the installed standard needle and wipe it with cotton or cloth soaked in solvent (benzene or gasoline); then use cotton or Wipe dry with a cloth and store in a dry place.
* If the parts of the instrument are damaged or lost, please contact our unit seller, and do not disassemble it by yourself.
