Signature Features

Operation is simple and convenient, with the entire measurement process controlled by the human-machine interface. It can measure the total current, resistive current and harmonics, reference voltage and harmonics at power frequency, effective power and phase difference of zinc oxide lightning arresters. The large screen can display the true waveforms of voltage and current.

The instrument employs digital waveform analysis technology, using software interference rejection methods such as harmonic analysis and digital filtering to ensure accurate and stable measurement results. It can accurately analyze the fundamental wave and 3rd to 9th harmonic content, and overcome the influence of phase sequence interference to correctly measure the resistive current of the line lightning arrester.

Lightning Arrester Measurement Principles

To determine whether a zinc oxide lightning arrester has aged or become damp, the typical method is to observe changes in the resistive current flowing through the arrester under normal operating voltage. Specifically, check if the resistive leakage current has increased, as this indicates aging or moisture issues.

The resistive leakage current often only accounts for 10-20% of the total current. Therefore, it is difficult to ascertain changes in the resistive current by only observing variations in the total current. The resistive leakage current must be separated from the total current.

This tester relies on a voltage reference signal, rapidly collecting the reference voltage and arrester leakage current data. Through harmonic analysis and fast Fourier transform, the resistive components (fundamental wave and harmonics), capacitive components, etc. are calculated separately.

Resistive current fundamental wave = Total current fundamental wave * cosφ, where φ is the phase angle difference between the total current and the voltage fundamental wave.
