ASTM D4530 Labotary Micro Carbon Residue Test Instrument for Petroleum Products

Introduction: 

ASTM D4530 Carbon Residue Tester for Petroleum Products is designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the national standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 17144-1997 "Method for determination of carbon residue in petroleum products (micro method)" and is used for the determination of carbon residue in petroleum products.

Carbon Residue Test Methods:

Micro method
The principle of the micro method is to put the weighed sample into a sample tube, and heat it to 500°C according to the specified temperature program under nitrogen. The volatile substances generated during the reaction are taken away by the nitrogen. , The carbonaceous residue left behind is reported as a trace carbon residue value as a percentage of the original sample.

The test conditions for measuring carbon residue by micro-method, the test environment is easier to control, the repeatability and reproducibility of the test results are very good, the sample amount is small, and it is more automated
Conradson method
When measuring by Conradson method, accurately weigh 10g ±0.5g of the test oil in the magnetic crucible of the instrument. After installing the instrument, heat it to high temperature with a blowtorch. Under the specified conditions, the test oil evaporates and decomposes, and the discharged steam is ignited with fire. After burning, it is heated intensely, and finally the weight of the residue is weighed. The result is the mass percentage of the test oil.
The Conradson method requires strict control of the heating time and heating intensity in the three stages of preheating period, combustion period and intense heating period. It is highly technical, the flame is difficult to control, and the data repeatability is not good.
Electric Furnace Method
An electric furnace is used instead of a gas blowtorch as the heat source. The sample is placed in a special pot with a capillary tube. The test oil is heated, evaporated and decomposed under the air-isolated and specified heating conditions. It is maintained for a specified time and the burnt black residue is measured. Expressed as mass percentage. Compared with the Conradson method, the electric furnace method for measuring residual carbon is simple to operate and easy to master.
