Viscosity of Lubricating Oil:
When the engine stops, the pressure in the lubrication system disappears and the oil flows back to the sump under the force of gravity. The longer it is parked, the more it flows back, the thinner the oil film remaining on each friction surface, and the greater the wear when the engine is cold started. Therefore, in the cold start stage, the rapid delivery of oil to the friction surface is one of the main measures to reduce engine wear. To achieve this effect, the oil is required to have good fluidity at both low and high temperatures. Winter oils are classified according to their low temperature apparent viscosity. There are six grades: 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W and 25W. The smaller the grade, the lower the viscosity of the oil, the better the fluidity, and the lower the applicable temperature. , the better the protection of the engine during cold start. Oils for non-winter use are classified according to their kinematic viscosity at 100°C, and there are five grades: 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60. The larger the grade, the higher the applicable temperature and the better the protection performance at high temperature.
