Product Description

How the UVF Sulfur Analyzer work?
The UVF Sulfur analyzer adopts the principle of ultraviolet fluorescence method. After the sample was introduced into the high temperature cracking furnace, the sample underwent pyrolysis oxidation reaction. At a high temperature of about 1050ºC, the sample underwent pyrolysis oxidation, in which the sulfide was quantitatively converted to sulfur dioxide. The reaction gas is carried by carrier gas, which is removed by membrane dryer and enters the reaction chamber. Sulfur dioxide is hit by ultraviolet light at specific wavelengths, and absorption of the rays redirects some electrons to high-energy orbitals. Once the electrons have returned to their original orbits, the excess energy is released in the form of light, which is detected by photomultiplier tubes at specific wavelengths. The emitted fluorescence is specific to sulfur and proportional to the amount of sulfur in the original sample. After amplification by a micro-current amplifier and computer data processing, it can be converted into an electrical signal proportional to the light intensity, and the sulfur content of the corresponding sample can be calculated by measuring its size.

ASTM D5453 is an orthodox test method to ascertain the total sulfur in liquid hydrocarbons containing 1.0 to 8000 mg/kg total Sulfur, which boil in the range from approximately 25 °C to 400 °C and with viscosities at room temperature of between approximately 0.2 and 20 cSt (mm2/S). This method of testing also has applications in determining the total sulfur in liquid hydrocarbons which contain fewer than 0.35% (m/m) halogen(s).
Working Principle:
After being introduced into the high-temperature cracking furnace, the sample undergoes cracking oxidation reaction. At high temperature, the sample is gasified and oxidized, and the sulfides are quantitatively converted into sulfur dioxide
The reaction gas is carried by the carrier gas, and after passing through a membrane dryer to remove its moisture, it enters the reaction chamber
Sulfur dioxide is exposed to specific wavelengths of ultraviolet radiation, which absorbs the radiation and causes the electrons to shift to high-energy orbitals. When the electrons return to their original orbitals, excess energy is released in the form of light, emitting fluorescence
The fluorescence signal is detected and received by a photomultiplier tube at a specific wavelength, and the emitted fluorescence is proportional to the sulfur content in the original sample. After amplification by a microcurrent amplifier and data processing by a computer, it is converted into an electrical signal proportional to the light intensity, and then the sulfur content of the sample is calculated
