Main technical features
1. The Kinematic Viscosity Tester is a kind of specially-made testing machine which the temperature control accuracy can reach ±0.01ºC and having digital display.
2. It adopts hard glass bath and heat preservation cover(double shell).Good heat prevention and easy to observe the sample.
3. It adopts desktop and all-in-one machine design,convenient to use.
4. It adopts electric stirrer to ensure the uniform of bath temperature.

Working principle of ASTM D445 Kinematic Viscosity Bath
The working principle is to put the sample into the selected capillary viscometer, the capillary immersed in the constant temperature bath. The sample will be sucked into the calibration position. When the sample flows to the upper calibration position, the instrument will start recording time automatically. When the sample flows through the lower calibration position, the instrument will stop recording time automatically. The instrument will automatically calculate the kinematic viscosity of the specimen.

Q1: What is the use of kinematic viscometer?
>>> Of all the tests employed for used oil analysis, none provides better test repeatability or consistency than viscosity. Likewise, there is no property more critical to effective component lubrication than base oil viscosity. However, there is more to viscosity than meets the eye. Viscosity can be measured and reported as dynamic (absolute) viscosity or as kinematic viscosity. The two are easily confused, but are significantly different.
>>> Kinematic viscosity is a measure of a fluid's internal resistance to flow under gravitational forces. It is determined by measuring the time in seconds, required for a fixed volume of fluid to flow a known distance by gravity through a capillary within a calibrated viscometer at a closely controlled temperature.

>>> ASTM D445 Standard Test Method for Kinematic Viscosity of Transparent and Opaque Liquids. It is suitable to determine kinematic viscosity of liquid petroleum products (Newtonian liquids) by measuring the time for a volume of liquid to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer at a constant temperature. 

Q2:How accurate is ASTM D445?
>>> Precision - Precision of the viscometer meets D445, which specifies repeatability of less than 0.11 percent on base oils to 0.26 percent on formulated oils and reproducibilities at 40°C and 100°C of 0.65 and 0.76 percent respectively.

Q3: What is the difference between ASTM D445 and ASTM D7042?
>>> ASTM D445 states a reproducibility (R) of 0.76 % for formulated oils at +40 °C and +100 °C. ASTM D7042 states a reproducibility (R) of 0.1087E-01(X + 10.6) % for kinematic viscosity of formulated oils at +40 °C and 0.1087E-01(X + 10.6) % at +100 °C, where X is the result obtained by ASTM D7042.

Q4:Which method is used to measure viscosity of liquid?
>>> Viscosity measurements are carried out according to five methods: the capillary viscometer, the flow cup, the rotational viscometer, the rolling ball viscometer and the drawing ball viscometer. Each determination of viscosity should be made at a temperature of 20°C and at 40°C.
