Working Principle

 

Transformer Oil Dielectric Strength Tester works on the principle of measuring the dielectric breakdown voltage of an insulating material. The instrument applies a high voltage to a sample of the insulating material until it breaks down, indicating the voltage at which the material's dielectric strength was exceeded.

The Oil Dielectric Strength Tester typically consists of a high voltage power supply, a capacitor, a voltage regulator, a meter, and a safety protection device. The sample to be tested is placed between two electrodes, and a high voltage is applied across the electrodes.

The voltage is gradually increased until the breakdown of the sample occurs, and the voltage at which the breakdown occurs is recorded. This voltage is known as the dielectric strength of the material being tested.

The test can be performed using either AC or DC voltage, depending on the type of insulating material being tested. The test results can be displayed on a screen or printed out using the built-in printer, and the data can be uploaded to a PC for further analysis.
