The BDV (Breakdown Voltage) test is a test used to measure the dielectric strength of transformer oil. The dielectric strength refers to the maximum ability of the insulating oil to withstand voltage. The BDV test is conducted by observing at what voltage sparking occurs between two electrodes immersed in the oil, separated by a specific gap. This test is important as it indicates the health of the oil and can be easily carried out on-site.
