Product Description

>>> During use lubricating oils can form an undesired foam, which can greatly affect their performance. Foaming can present serious problems for system operation. The ASTM D892 foam test method is used to determine the foaming tendency and stability of foam in lubricating oils. The Foam Tester is applied to measure the foaming characteristics of lubricating oils at 24°C and 93.5°C.
>>> It is suitable to determine foaming characteristics of lubricating oil, which is used to evaluate foaming tendency and foaming stability of lubricating oil.

Product Parameters

1. Power supply: AC 220 V±10%, 50 Hz;

Main Structure

ASTM D892 Foam Tester for Measuring Lubricant&prime;s Foaming Tendency and Stability
Main structure:
(1) Air flow meter: to determine air flow rate during test
(2) Graduated flask clamp: to hold graduated flask.
(3) Temperature sensor: to determine temperature in the constant temperature bath.
(4) Timer: for timing during test.
(5) Temperature controller: used to preset and control temperature in the constant temperature bath
(6) Power supply switch: turn on the switch, and then the instrument will connect to power supply and enter into working state.
(7) Hole for inserting a refrigeration head: the hole for inserting the refrigeration head of portable compressor refrigeration device. The refrigeration device is cold source for the low temperature constant temperature bath.
(8) Glass bath: constant temperature bath, the temperature in the two glass baths can be controlled at 24±0.5 ºC and 93.5±0.5 ºC respectively.
(9) Time switch: turn on the switch, and the timer will enter into working state.
Back panel diagram:

(3) Inlet: the air inlet for air produced by air pump.
(4) Outlet: to exhaust the air inputted through the inlet hole after circulating in the constant temperature bath.

(5) Refrigeration air hole: the outlet hole of cold air in the constant temperature bath, which is at 24 ºC.

Main Technical Features

1. The ASTM D892 Foam Tester  adopts all-in-one structure. It includes three parts: low temperature test part and it's control, high temperature test part and it's control, a portable cooler for low temperature test part.
2. The temperature controller has parameters modifying function. If there is bias between showing temperature and testing temperature,it ca be corrected by this function.
3. The ASTM D892 Foam Tester equips an automatic timing alarm.

Working method

1. Check the instrument and its accessories. If there is nothing damage or lose, please place the graduated flask containing "O" ring into the instrument and screw the locknut tightly.
2. Add water into two constant temperature baths until the water surface is higher than gap on the heater shield.
3. Turn on the power supply switch to let the instrument get power. The power supply indication light will be on and the instrument will enter into the working state.
4. Preset the required test temperature on temperature controller, and then the temperature controller will control temperature in the constant temperature baths after you turn on the instrument. The high temperature bath is equipped with auxiliary heating device, which will be cut off when the temperature is about 2 ºC near the set temperature point. The low temperature bath is equipped with special refrigeration device, which can be used as an auxiliary cooling device when the room temperature is higher than test temperature.
5. Fill sample as per GB/T12579 after the instrument enters into the constant temperature state.
6. Connect foaming head and turn on time switch, and then the instrument starts timing and the air pump begins blowing. You can adjust the flow rate of flow meter to 94±5 ml/min.
7. After blowing air for 5 minutes, the instrument will cut off the air source automatically and begin timing for 10 minutes. Then you can observe foaming tendency of lubricant oil.
