Working principle
The Insulating Oil Tan Delta Tester and Capacitance Test Set is a device used to test the dielectric properties of insulating oil. The device works by measuring the capacitance and dissipation factor of the oil. The capacitance is a measure of the oil's ability to store an electrical charge, while the dissipation factor (also known as the tan delta) is a measure of the oil's ability to dissipate the electrical charge.
During the test, the insulating oil is placed between two electrodes, and a small AC voltage is applied. The voltage causes an electrical current to flow through the oil, and the resulting electrical field between the electrodes causes the oil molecules to align with the field. This alignment causes the oil to behave like a capacitor, storing electrical charge.
The capacitance and dissipation factor are then measured using the test set. The capacitance is measured by applying a known frequency to the oil and measuring the resulting current flow. The dissipation factor is measured by comparing the phase angle between the voltage and current.
