ASTM D611 Aniline Point Determination Machine of Hydrocarbon Solvents 

Main Structure

(1) Glass bath: Select different heating medium for different controlling temperature. If the controlling temperature is lower than 100 ºC, take water as the medium; 
(2) Sensor: Temperature sensor.
(3) Testing apparatus: Select different apparatus for light oil and/or heavy oil
(4) Stirring motor: To stir the medium in the bath.
(5) Insert hole for thermometer: Place a gel stopper in the hole, and then insert the thermometer into the hole.
(6) Heater: Round heater. The heating power is 2000 W.
(7) Temperature controller: Digital temperature controller. It is used to set and control the temperature of bath.
(8) Speed adjustment knob: To adjust the speed of stirring motor.
(9) Stir Switch: Turn on the switch, and the stirring motor starts working.
(10) Heat Switch: Turn on the switch, and the heater starts working.
(11) Power Switch: Turn on the switch, and the instrument gets power.

Definition of Aniline Point

The aniline point refers to the lowest temperature required for oil and equal volumes of aniline to dissolve into a single liquid phase. It is an index to measure the aromatic hydrocarbon content in the oil. The higher the aniline point, the more alkane content in the oil; conversely, the higher the aromatic hydrocarbon content. In dearomatized and desulfurized base oils, the level of aniline point can indicate the solubility of the oil. The lower the aniline point, the stronger the oil's solubility.

Product Description

Test Standard:
This instrument is designed and made as per test method one in national standard of People's Republic of China GB/T262 Petroleum Products and Hydrocarbon Solvents-Determination of Aniline Point and Mixed Aniline Point. The standard GB/T262 is refer to standard ISO2977. The aniline point (or mixed aniline point) is useful as an aid in the characterization of pure hydrocarbons and in the analysis of hydrocarbon mixtures. Aromatic hydrocarbons exhibit the lowest, and paraffins the highest values. It is alsosuitable for test method A in ASTM D611 Standard Test Methods for Aniline Point and Mixed Aniline Point of Petroleum Products and Hydrocarbon Solvents.

The test method is as follows:
First, add the same volume of aniline to the sample. At this time, the two are not completely miscible and separate into two phases. Then slowly heat the mixture and stir continuously to make it completely miscible and transparent. Then, stir and cool slowly until the transparent solution becomes turbid. Record the temperature of the mixture at this time, which is the aniline point of the sample.
