Working Principle

The Transformer Oil Dielectric Strength Tester works based on the principle of measuring the dielectric strength of transformer oil. The test is performed by applying an AC voltage to a sample of the oil held between two electrodes with a specific gap, and gradually increasing the voltage until a breakdown occurs.

During the test, the instrument measures the voltage at which electrical current flows through the sample and causes a breakdown or flashover between the electrodes. This voltage is the Withstand Voltage, also known as Breakdown Voltage (BDV) of the oil. The test is repeated multiple times to obtain reliable and accurate results.
