Test Principle:
The test principle is to make the sample flow out from the capillary viscometer under the pressure of nitrogen (carbon dioxide) under the test condition of 150°C. By the outflow time and pressure of the sample, the apparent shear rate of capillary viscometer can be obtained to a certain apparent viscosity, with the viscosity of the oil corresponding to the measured pressure for the curve corrected with each viscometer cell.

GD-H1706 Hihg-Temperature and High-Shear Rate Apparent Viscosity Tester (HTHS) conforms to ASTM D5481 Standard Test Method for Measuring Apparent Viscosity at High-Temperature and High-Shear Rate by Multicell Capillary Viscometer, it covers the laboratory determination of hihg-temperature high-shear (HTHS) viscosity of engine oil at a temperature of 150ºC using a multicell capillary viscometer containing pressure, temperature, and timing instrumentation. The shear rate for this test method corresponds to an apparent shear rate at the wall of 1.4 million reciprocal seconds (1.4 3 106s-1).This shear rate has been found to decrease the discrepancy between this test method and other high temperature hihg-shear test methods used for engine oil specifications.
